Curriculum

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, which provides the structure for learning between 0 and 5 in preparation for school. We are proud to have a dedicated Curriculum Co-Ordinator, whose role is to plan and implement learning strategies at each stage in your child’s learning journey.

The EYFS is structured into seven areas of learning; three prime and four specific. For children under the age of two, the focus is on the three prime areas and after two, our curriculum encompasses all seven areas.

The three prime areas are Communication and language, Physical development, and Personal, social and emotional development. The four specific areas are Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the world, and Expressive arts and design.

The successful implementation of the EYFS relies on partnership with parents, therefore you are an integral part of your child’s learning journey and our partnership with you ensures we are aligned every step of the way.

To meet the need for high quality pre-school education without the complexity of multiple settings The Wendy House has created the Foundation Unit, which is a structured pre-school environment, focused around the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. We have achieved some phenomenal results with our pre-school children in preparation for their transition to school, and we will apply for nursery grant funding for your child, starting the first complete term after their third birthday.
